Artist's Description

The Rockland, Maine navigation light sits at the end of this 3/4 mile long breakwater wall that was constructed in 1899 by the US Army Corp of Engineers. Care must be exercised when shooting at this location, as ultra-high tides can render the middle section of the breakwater impassable.

Welcome to an important and dear part of my life, a quest to capture the perfect night image! Photography has been an interest of mine for decades, starting with a basic Minolta SRT101 film camera that accompanied me into the back country of the Sierra Nevada. Switching gears, my interest turned to underwater film photography and videography using both housed and Nikonos style cameras. My first digital camera was a mere 1.2 megapixel Kodak point and shoot, yet the results from this camera, combined with the power of image processing software truly amazed me, and pointed toward a future that truly boggled the mind. Well, today IS that future, and what has evolved in the graphic arts world creates opportunities to express oneself...
